چکیده
Trace amines, which include b-phenylethylamine (PEA), tryptamine (T), phenylethanolamine (PEOH), tyramines (TAs), octopamines (OAs), and synephrine (SYN) [some authors include N, N-dimethyltryptamine (DMT) in this list], are amines related structurally to, but present in the brain at much lower concentrations than, the classical neurotransmitter amines – dopamine (DA), noradrenaline (NA), and 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT, serotonin).

Beta-phenylethylamine alters monoamine transporter function via trace amine-associated receptor 1: implication for modulatory roles of trace amines in brain.
Brain monoamines include common biogenic amines (dopamine, norepinephrine, and serotonin) and trace amines [beta-phenylethylamine (beta-PEA), tyramine, tryptamine, and octopamine]. Common biogenic amines are well established as neurotransmitters, but the roles and functional importance of trace amines remain elusive. Here, we re-evaluated the interaction of trace amines with trace amine-associa...
متن کاملThe potential of trace amines and their receptors for treating neurological and psychiatric diseases.
Mining of the human genome has revealed approximately 7000 novel proteins, which could serve as potential targets for the development of novel therapeutics. Of these, approximately 2000 are predicted to be G-protein coupled receptors. Within this group of proteins, a family of 18 mammalian receptors has recently been identified that appear to exhibit selectivity toward the so-called trace amine...
متن کاملEffects of dietary amines on the gut and its vasculature.
Trace amines, including tyramine and beta-phenylethylamine (beta-PEA), are constituents of many foods including chocolate, cheeses and wines and are generated by so-called 'friendly' bacteria such as Lactobacillus, Lactococcus and Enterococcus species, which are found in probiotics. We therefore examined whether these dietary amines could exert pharmacological effects on the gut and its vascula...

BACKGROUND Trace amines, including tyramine, octopamine, and synephrine, are closely related to classic biogenic amines. They have been hypothesized to promote migraines and other types of primary headaches, but there is no direct evidence supporting this hypothesis. METHODS Using a multichannel electrochemical high-performance liquid chromatography system, the authors evaluated whether chang...
متن کاملLesion of selected brain areas as a tool for the demonstration of some trace biogenic amines neural pathways.
Trace amines is an all embracing term that refers to biogenic amines that are present in neural tissues in concentrations ranging from 0.1 to 100 ng g-t (Boulton, 1976). The amines included within these concentrations are fl-phenylethylamine, phenylethanolamine, p-tyramine (p-TA), m-tyramine (mTA), p-octopamine (p-OA), m-octopamine (m-OA), p-synephrine, m-synephrine and tryptamine. Some of the ...
